North Powder School District

The last couple days of school last week were extremely challenging due to the number of exposures and contact tracing events. Over the weekend we were notified of several other positive cases. In light of what we are seeing, it is more imperative now than ever that you keep you child home if they are feeling sick, running a fever or displaying any symptoms. Please help us control potential spread of the virus by emphasizing to your children the importance of wearing face coverings while at school and school events. If we continue to have more positive cases and exposure at school, the district may be forced to return to limited visitors and spectators at school events and extra curricular activities. Thanks for your help as we once again navigate the nuances of this pandemic while trying to keep students in school and participating in activities at all levels!

There will be no athletic practices until Wednesday, January 19th. This includes practices at all levels.

This week has been a crazy week with contact tracing. Although we have only had a few positive cases at school, after visiting with our school nurse and the local health authorities, we are choosing to close school for Tuesday, January 18th. This has been a difficult decision, but for the safety of our students and staff, we feel this is the best decision. School will resume on Wednesday, January 19th. The high school basketball game that was scheduled for Tuesday will be rescheduled and we will announce that as soon as we have it confirmed.

If your child is taking part in Saturday morning basketball, please have them at the school today by 5:45, as the game times have been moved up a bit today. Go Badgers!

Good morning Badger fans. There will only be half of a jv girl's basketball game today. The games start at 4:30, followed by jv boys, and varsity girls. There will not be a varsity boy's game tonight. Go Badgers!

There is a sign-up sheet for the North Powder Trap Team Club at Cj's. This is a pre- registration. This is open for 6th to 12th grade. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Wright or Lois Delcurto.

The basketball games that were scheduled in Helix for Saturday have all been cancelled. We will communicate when we hear about rescheduling.

Tomorrow's j.v. basketball games are in Baker starting at 5:00 p.m. Go Badgers!

Friday School will be next Friday, January 14th from 8 - 12 in Mrs. Hamann's classroom. If your child needs extra help, has missing assignments, or is failing a class, this is a great opportunity to receive help from a teacher. Please contact the school if you want your child signed up. A teacher may be contacting you suggesting this opportunity for your child as well.

After communicating with the county road department and the bus company, we are cancelling school today. The roads will not be cleared in time for our bus routes to make it through this morning. Please be safe everyone.
