This is a reminder that parent/teacher conferences are this Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pre-K-5 teachers have sent out messages about scheduling those conferences, and 6-12th grade teachers have reached out as well, mostly via email. Conferences for 6-12th grade will be in the cafeteria on Thursday and in their classrooms on Friday. Feel free to drop in to ms/hs to meet up with staff. If you have any questions, please contact the school. School is out at 12:00 p.m. Thursday and the buses will run at 12:15. We believe that conferences are an important part in a child's education and we look forward to seeing you here.

This is My Dixon. An update on the state playoff semifinal games. At this point, it looks like we are playing Lost River, Saturday at 4:30. We will be playing at Caldera High School. This is the current information from the Oregon Schools Athletic Association. As we continue to learn more we will keep you updated. Please wear your red ,white and blue and come to your on your North Powder Badgers!!

There has been a change in the plans for the Turkey shoot due to the volleyball team leaving for state on Thursday. So, we are moving the Turkey Shoot to Wednesday so all can participate. It will still be at six o’clock at the Baker Trap Club. We would love to see you there!


Our weather has hit, and it's a bit cold outside. Please help your child remember to wear appropriate clothing for outdoor recess. If your child is in need of some clothing, please send a message to one of our secretaries, and we will get your child what they need out of Riki's Room. Thank you!

October 16 - 22 is Safe Schools Week. We would like to remind students, parents, school staff and community members about Oregon's statewide tip line, SafeOregon. Anyone can use this free resource to keep our state's schools safe.

We have a large pile of lost and found items in both buildings. Please remind your child to take a look at the lost and found. All items remaining at the end of the month will be donated to charity.


Starting Monday, October 24th, we will start an activity bus for middle and high school students. This bus will run at 4:45 at night on a trial basis. There will be three stops - Haines, Talley Dobbin, and Baker City at the DMV. If you have a child who is participating in sports or has a need to stay after school, please let us know that you would like them to ride this bus. Thank you!

This is just a reminder that this Wednesday, October 19, is early release. Students are released at 3:08 and buses will run at 3:15 p.m. We use this time for professional development with our staff.


If anyone would like to play in an alumni volleyball game versus the winners of the boys' tournament, please call the office to sign up. This will take place after the girls' volleyball game on Thursday in the new gym, during our Homecoming pep night. Should be a fun evening!

Next week in the elementary, we are celebrating National School Lunch Week. On Monday, it will be dress like a cowboy or cowgirl. Thursday, elementary students can dress like the 60's and 70's and after lunch, we will have a dance party. We appreciate the lunches our lunch ladies prepare, as they are homemade and AMAZING! Let's celebrate!
